Beautiful Chelmer home inspired by Cabaritas Halcyon House hits the market

A METICULOUSLY renovated 70s Chelmer home at 26 Sutton St, Chelmer, has hit the market and is ready for a new owner.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home on a 749sq m block captivates buyers with its light-filled interiors, variety of space, an open-plan living and dining area and resort-like features in the backyard with an in-ground swimming pool, landscaped gardens and a stone retaining wall.

Current owners Nicole and Simon Morrison purchased the property back in December 2021 to renovate and are ready to step into their next chapter by moving to New York.

Mr and Mrs Morrison said they loved Chelmer and Sutton Street when they first purchased the property.

“It was such a beautifully constructed home, so solid and secure, it had been so loved by its previous owners”, Mrs Morrison said.

“When we walked through, it was absolutely pristine; we upgraded the floor plan to suit families of different ages.

“I had the opportunity to meet the previous owner, Mrs Hausler, during the purchase process and wanted to honour the love and care she and her late husband put into the house, so called it Hausler Haus in her honour.

“By reworking the floorplan, the house gained an additional living area, an additional study area and an additional main bedroom with an ensuite and WIR; there is also a second main bedroom upstairs with an ensuite and adjacent sitting room, perfect for teenagers, a nanny or intergenerational living.

“My favourite feature of the renovation is the fresh use of tiles from Jatana Interiors, the generous cabinetry adding a lot of additional storage and the indoor-outdoor flow from the kitchen area.”

Property agent Ann-Karyn Fraser from Place New Farm said the property was a sought-after Chelmer address surrounded by high price properties.

“It shows you what you can do with a 70s build; the renovation was based on boutique hotel Halcyon House in Cabarita, a former surf motel.

“The same beautiful touch can be seen on this property, the style’s very on point.

“The layout of the property is excellent, the master suite to the front of the property, beautiful views of Sutton Street, a second study area and from the kitchen, you can see the pool and outdoor space.

“The current owners have built the extra level above and caters for dual living”.

Ms Fraser said the campaign so far had been solid for the property

“It has attracted a lot of overseas interest; some buyers have flown in especially to see this property”, she said.

“We’ve also seen several Sydney buyers interested in the property.

“There is a point of difference with this property; it’s walking distance to Indooroopilly and is in the catchment of good schools.

“Our local market is very strong, I’ve had some big sales lately in the Chelmer area on and off-market, and what that’s showing is Chelmer/Graceville, and Sherwood offer so much for value.

“The infrastructure is in place, transport, restaurants, a great community, it’s so easy for families to move in.”
